Meet Anna

Hi, I am Anna.

Body trust is your birthright.

I am an anti-diet Certified Nutritionist, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a Certified Body Trust Provider™.  I am both passionate about and experienced in helping people heal their relationships with food and their bodies. I benefit from white, thin, straight, cis privilege, which is something I try to stay mindful of in my work.

I am a Health at Every Size (HAES) practitioner, offering a non-diet approach to weight concerns.  This empowering approach supports body attunement, as well as assists in the development of self-acceptance and self-compassion.  This approach focuses on removing stigma around body size.  The HAES paradigm names oppressive biases supported and perpetuated by diet culture, citing toxic Western beauty standards to often be at the base of disordered eating.

When working with clients, I draw from my life experiences and share openly who I am - a teacher and motivator with a love of life and an empathetic and compassionate human. I partner with clients using motivational interviewing and an intuitive eating nutritional approach to help support clients’ physical, emotional, spiritual and relational well-being.

I’ve had my own struggles with food and body and spent much of my life thinking, ‘If I could just eat right, exercise right, do it right, then I would be healed.’  Through my own recovery process, I have learned a few things:

  • There is no right way that will lead to health and happiness.  A person’s path is their own.  Inside them lies a perfect compass to guide them in their next right steps.

  • Struggling is OK!  It’s how we learn and grow.

  • When struggling, a person needs support. The right support can help transform struggling into growth, and ultimately into thriving.

I support people as they grieve the losses associated with debunking diet culture.  I hold space while they find their own magic glasses that let them choose to begin to see things a different way.  I dance a happy dance and smile from ear to ear with them as we celebrate them stepping into who they are.

I have worked with people with eating disorders and disordered eating for over a decade.  I am currently on the IADEP board, a non-profit organization for eating disorder professionals.

I donate 3% of my income to the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH) every month.  Please check out their website to learn more and sign the Health at Every Size pledge.  I also invite you to consider becoming an ASDAH member as a commitment to promoting wellness in a manner that does not judge, place value on, or use weight as a proxy for health.

ASDAH | Committed to Size Diversity in Health and HAES®

In my spare time, I like to camp in the PNW and read fantasy novels.  In fact, my pet guinea pigs are named after characters in The Lord of the Rings.   Samwise, Bilbo, and Legolas keep me company, as does my flower and produce garden.
